I don't presume to know what is being done or said behind closed doors but it must be some powerful deal making. Considering that 80% percent of us are opposed to amnesty and the current versions of the immigration reform bill under consideration, why is there such effort to pass it?

Obviously this demonstrates a total disregard for the will of the people by elitists, career politicians who are completely out of touch with reality. Apparently they don't think that there will be any kind of consequences or they simply don't care. If that is the case, it does not bode well for we the voters of this country.

Ah well, we will have to wait and watch to see how this will develop over the next few days. I will be praying for guidance and a return to some semblance of sanity and reason. The new ploy is to try to put a different dress and lipstick on the same ole pig and pass it off as a new animal. Well guess what? It isn't going to work and we are paying attention. Another tactic in this renewed effort is to tout tougher border control and funding for the fence. Ok, so why wasn't the fence built when it was originally funded, what's different this time?

Grassroots activism was very effective surprising many legislators with the groundswell and flood of letters, calls, and emails to their offices in opposition to this amnesty bill. I would urge everyone to continue the pressure double fold. In some instances it seems that our words are falling upon deaf ears, especially the politicians who are not intending to run for reelection or those finishing their current term and then leaving. There are those however who do intend to run for reelection and the thought of facing angry constituents and having their campaign donations withheld concerns them greatly.

Grassroots activism is essential and is a vital part of the process as is voting. Voter apathy and complacency will doom us to the status quo and make the fat cat career politicians who are deeply entrenched in do nothing DC very happy. Now is the time to show them that we are wide awake, paying attention, and will seek retribution for betrayal. We should show them that no longer will we swallow the rhetoric, spin, and lies during campaigns only to see them side with whoever applies the most pressure, lobbies them the hardest, or lines their pockets the most. It is now time to return to the old idea of public service and actually representing the will of the people, not self interests.

I ask you to stay informed, educate yourselves on facts regarding issues, and above all else, remain active and involved. Our enemies depend on inaction, apathy, complacency, and low voter turnouts. Our great country is worth fighting for and we need to start now. Make your voices heard loud and clear as you contact your elected representatives to encourage and urge them to vote no to amnesty!

God bless.

Elitist Politicians

In My Humble Opinion :

Politicians, especially those who have served more than one term seem to exhibit an attitude of in your face elitism. Guaranteed their salary for life and secure in having a retirement package that you and I can only dream of our DC representatives seem completely oblivious to the wishes of those of us who elected them. And why not, what do they have to lose?

During the campaign season we are treated to promises of the moon and stars but almost immediately upon taking the oath of office these folks seem to develop a severe case of voter amnesia. Their constituents can email, call, write, fax, and communicate to their hearts content but well trained staffers simply field the communications and process them to the nearest waste receptacle it seems. This seems to be the case with politicians who are serving out the last of their current term and have no intention or hope of reelection.

Blogs and websites talk about the level and degree of anger amongst the voter base. The current immigration legislation is a good example of how an issue can ignite voter interest. In one instance it was stated that a staffer at a prominent southern senator's office actually told a constituent that the senator really didn't care what they thought because he wasn't running for reelection anyway. I truly believe that this attitude is rampant among the current crop of representatives in DC.

So how do those of us in flyover country actually make our voices heard or hold our representatives accountable for their acquired deafness to our voices? The first step is to stay informed and be knowledgeable about issues that you have an interest in at the very least. The second step is to be active in the process and make every attempt to communicate with your elected representatives. Thirdly, withhold your donations to any and all representatives who have demonstrated a willingness to betray their constituents and sell out their values. If you want to see a politician become very attentative, withhold your money from them.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely believe in our system of government and although it certainly appears to be malfunctioning at the present time it can absolutely be fixed. A change in leadership is way overdo too. The last thing in the world that we need is career politicians whose primary interest is furthering their personal agenda and lining their pockets. Although all politicians can appear to be incredible masters of communication thanks to the work of good speech and copywriters, the one thing that politicians can not hide from is their voting record. No matter what they say, their voting record speaks for itself. We should look very closely at the actions that they have taken during their time in office.

This country, government, and way of life are very much worth fighting for. With faith, prayer, and an absolute set of standards to guide us we can survive and thrive again. Complacency and apathy will be our worst enemy in upcoming elections and voter turnout will determine how we will move forward. There are still good men and women who are willing to serve, we just have to find them.

God bless America.

Fight On

In My Humble Opinion:

What about all of the immigration law that is currently on the books? Why would this problem require all this new legislation, especially legislation that is crafted behind closed doors? Why haven't any of the immigration laws been enforced to date and why should we think that it is going to be any different if we allow them to pass what is currently being proposed?

In a famous movie line we were told to "Be afraid, be very afraid." This is very appropriate now when considering what will happen if the legislation that is being considered is passed.

It is our duty to be informed, be involved, and be strong. Participate in the process by letting your elected representatives hear your voice. Be part of the solution by leting them know what you think about illegals immigrants overrunning our country.

I pray that our leaders will come to their senses and vote no!

Immigration, a sellout

In My Humble Opinion:

You can put a pig in a dress and call it a lady but it is still a pig. This is especially true of the current immigration bill being negotiated behind closed doors. Passage of this bill will be incredibly bad for this country. This is a veiled attempt to grant amnesty to anywhere from 12-20 million illegals currently in the US.

I implore you to research this issue and contact your respective legislators immediately to stop passage of this travesty. Everything from words, songs, symbols, and of course ideologies. Have we entered into some kind of nightmarish parallel time warp of hypersensitive, thin skinned, whacko who spend unnatural amounts of time desperately searching for something to be offended by? The answer would certainly seem so.

As a baby boomer I was taught the principle of majority rule which was so eloquently stated by Mr. Spock of Star Trek fame when he gaspingly uttered the following quote, "The good of the many outweighs the need of the few." Somewhere along the way though that premise seems to have been replaced by the old adage about the squeaky wheel gets the oil. In other words, when did the agenda of the vocal minority become the rule that the majority must abide by? Why is it necessary to change the very meaning of marriage which is one of the oldest human institutions in existence to accommodate a very minor faction of society? Why should we strike words from things such as the national anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, and even our money to appease the whims of extremists?

Exactly how is someone harmed, injured, or otherwise damaged by religious symbols in a public place during one of the most sacred holidays in human history? What is so offensive by references to God that it must be stricken from money that all of us use everyday? Does seeing the Ten Commandments cause some unknown malady to overtake the viewer simply by having it displayed in a public place? Does all of this seem absurd and bizarre to anyone other than me?

Statistics indicate that the overwhelming majority of people in this country believe in God. Overwhelming majorities consistently vote to uphold marriage as being defined as the union between one man and and one woman. If it is unquestionably the will of the majority that the institution of marriage be preserved as it was originally intended then why is it so important to the extremists that it be redefined? Why is traditional marriage so offensive to the extremist whackos and why are they so determined to destroy it?

What about things that offend me? If I am classified as being part of what is reported as being a majority of people with similar belief systems then why is it alright to blatantly offend me and the like minded who are in the group in the majority and expect us to bend over backwards to appease an extremist fringe group who are clearly a minority? I find the assault on marriage offensive, I find the assault on Christianity offensive, I find the destruction of preborn human beings offensive and yet there is no sign of ACLU intervention to preserve my rights, my beliefs, or my way of life. So if the issue is to be inoffensive and to be sensitive to fairness to others then how is offending the majority to appease the minority logical? I find political correctness offensive and believe that it is the single greatest threat to my belief system of all.

If the issue is fairness then how is it fair that I be made to accept things that I find offensive to accommodate someone else? Who exactly empowered the mainstream media or activist judges with the right to decide what is best for me and the majority of other like minded individuals? Obviously it is impossible to give a reasonable explanation about how redefining marriage will benefit society as a whole or how removing references to God from our money or anywhere else it appears will benefit the vast majority of people who believe in God, or mass murdering babies will enhance the quality of life in this country.

I find it offensive that our youth idolize athletes and entertainers for want of true leaders and heroes. I find it offensive the Christians are ridiculed, labeled as fanatics, discouraged from embracing their beliefs out of fear of offending those who believe differently or lack religious beliefs altogether. I find it offensive that homosexuals are so empowered as to dictate the very definition of marriage which has been between one man and one woman since the beginning of recorded history. I am offended by anyone and everyone with nothing better to do than champion whacko causes in the name of fairness and political correctness for the benefit of fringe minorities.

If the sight of a nativity scene offends someone then they should not look at it. If the words "In God We Trust" or any other reference to God offends someone then they should not read them. If Christianity is offensive to someone then they should ignore it. If someone is offended by American traditions, then they should not come here or should leave and go somewhere less offensive. There are far more serious issues that should be given our undivided attention and energy than building a culture of victims.

On the verge of a new year my wish is that we all just stop and think about the countless blessings that we receive, how fortunate we are to be living in the greatest county on earth, and how wonderful it is to still have an opportunity to demonstrate the principles, character, and morality that made us the greatest nation on earth. If the principles, beliefs, and rights that were guaranteed to us by the founders are not worth fighting for then we are already hopelessly lost. It is my greatest prayer that we can find a moral compass to guide us and quit being sidetracked by ridiculous and idiotic diversions which are unendingly flaunted in our face by whacko malcontents with nothing better to do than stir up maelstroms of emotional issues fueled by eager accomplices in the mainstream media for the benefit of elitist utopians. My fervent prayer is a revival of faith in an almighty God and return of principle and character in our leaders and elected representatives who will demonstrate the strength to stand up and say enough is enough.

What Now?

In My Humble Opinion:

The democrats now have control of both houses of congress and we are faced with new leadership albeit from a group of people who are anything but new to politics. Will we then see renewed efforts to rebuild former little kingdoms as the deeply entrenched power brokers begin to exercise their newfound majority? Dare we forget that most of those in leadership positions hold very to extremely liberal viewpoints? Who were the real losers in this very telling midterm 2006 election?

Alright then, now what? What will the democrats do about Iraq? How will their decisions affect such issues as judicial activism? What kind of political atmosphere will values voters and christians find now that we have been rescued from the republicans? Are impeachment proceedings looming in the very near future? What will those pillars of centrist philosophies like Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Charles Schumer, Hillary Clinton, and so on do for us now that they have complete mandates to govern?

It certainly came as no surprise that voter turnout was key to shifting power and that for reasons of protest, many badly needed republican voters simply opted to sit this one out. Now we must turn our attention to the next two years and what will be in store as the next
round of elections comes our way in 2008. The dems have complete control and more control than even they dared to believe possible, so what will they do with it? What shining examples of their supreme wisdom and irrefutable leadership will we be privy too over the next two years? I for one will be amazed if we see little more than total gridlock and partisan bickering.

Power Shift

In my humble opinion:

The protest vote was duly noted by the many republican incumbents who were voted out of office en masse. Dissatisfaction with the war effort in Iraq seemed to resonate at one of the primary topics amongst those participating in the 2006 midterm election process. Turnout was another key factor which certainly seemed to favor the democrats with regard to turnout.

Unfortunately voter apathy and dissatisfaction with current political trends played heavily in mandating a power shift in what may prove to be both houses of congress. Two senate seats still have to be decided before the issue of who controls the senate will be clearly known. Control of the senate may remain unclear until as late as sometime in December.

What will this massive transference of power actually mean with regard to the direction that will be taken by the newly elected majority? We need to remember that the leadership is still primarily made up of "insiders" who have been part of the political landscape for many years. Hopefully we will see a great deal of gridlock with little in the way of policy actually being passed and ratified.

With regard to those of us who are Christian and have deeply held beliefs and a biblical worldview as opposed to a secular worldview, we should take the results of the current election as a wake up call to energize our base and become actively involved in the direction that our elected representatives choose. There is no room for complacency or apathy and we must be involved in every possible way in insuring that our interests are well represented.

What is American?

In My Humble Opinion

What is an American? To answer that we should probably think about what it used to mean and what it could mean. The short answer in a word could be described as pride. Unfortunately the definition of pride has been turned into something murky, and elusive when applied on a national scale. Hearing the Star Spangled Banner being played and watching the Stars and Stripes being raised used to invoke a lump in the throat, a tear in the eye, and a deep abiding sense of patriotism and pride. Can the same be said of today's sentiments? In a word, no. The days of people rallying around such calls as "For God and Country!" seem to be gone forever.

Being born in the greatest country on earth alone used to be enough to stir men's hearts to achieve greatness. How many have fought and died to defend the freedoms enjoyed by being an America? Our national heroes used to be people like John Wayne, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and countless others who exemplified character and honor. Now, sadly, sports figures, musicians, and even politicians who have embarrassed the highest office in the land are looked upon with adoration.

Those who came to America in days gone past did so with a desire and an eagerness to contribute and to work hard to gain citizenship. Most spent years learning to speak English and to adopt the laws and customs of being American citizens. Illegal immigrants were rounded up and sent back to their home countries without question. Now, we see as many as 12 million illegals marching in the streets demonstrating and demanding the same rights and benefits as naturalized citizens in open defiance.

What will being American mean tomorrow? Will it mean whoever, whatever, and whenever someone wants to be an American all they will have to do is cross the border and start demanding citizenship? Will our national anthem survive? Will our monetary system survive if it bears any reference to God on it? Will marriage survive? Will our freedoms, liberties, and rights survive? Will our faith survive? Not too long ago questions such as these would have seemed ridiculous but now must be considered with deadly seriousness. Perhaps we would all do well to review the Constitution Of The United States and the Bill Of Rights so we can easily review what we are at risk of losing if things do not change quickly.

Keeping Christ In The Closet

In My Humble Opinion

Is Christianity under attack in the US? In short, absolutely yes! If you listen to the pundits in the mainstream media, there is no organized assault on Christianity. Hmm, we must first remember that over 87% of journalist today identify themselves as liberal and many tend to identify as being more secular. So much for an unbiased attitude or viewpoint.

If Christianity is not under attack then what in the world did we just see happen during Christmas? I seem to remember seeing and hearing about everything from school systems banning Christmas Carols and calling trees "Friendship Trees" to merchants banning employees from even wishing someone Merry Christmas in lieu of the more generic greeting, Happy Holidays. Lawsuits galore filled the courtrooms with regard to public displays of anything resembling Christian while crescents and menorrahs were prominently displayed. And now, Easter is being attacked. How is that not attacking Christianity? I don't see Valentines day, or Arbor day, or Martin Luther King day being attacked, why is it only those that are associated with Christianity that are under attack?

Phrases such as "One Nation Under God" and "In God We Trust" are being assaulted. The Pledge Of Allegiance is being threatened. We have seen uproar over public displays of the ten Commandments resonate throughout this country in the court systems and media. Christians are never referred to as just Christians but are labeled as fanatic, right wing extremists, religious zealots whenever referenced in the media. Symbols such as the cross are being banned and removed from public view as evidenced by certain California cities battling with political correctness over County Crests which have small crosses on them.

Do you think it is going to stop at simply removing references from public view? Do you really think that the secular humanist will be satisfied with the success that has been realized thus far? Not if we leave it up to the secular humanists, history revistionists, and politically correct movements in this country. These groups will not stop with just removing Christianity from public view but would rather see Christians back in the catacombs. So did homosexuality come out of the closet only to put Christ into the closet?

Melting pot meltdown

In My Humble Opinion

As immigration policy and demonstrations take center stage in current events many thoughts occur. Immigrants have always played a role in this country as evidenced throughout our history as a nation. Today though the issue is legal immigration or how to deal with the issue of illegal immigration. At present statistics indicate a population of over 12 million illegal immigrants living and working in the US.

So what is wrong with those who abide by the rules, laws, and policies of the US? The answer is absolutely nothing. Those who follow the rules and immigrate to the US legally, work and pay taxes, and generally assimilate into our society are welcome additions. On the reverse side of the coin however we have those who enter illegally, do not work or pay taxes, and demand special privileges and rights.

If the many illegals who are currently residing in the US refuse the basic premise of entering the country legally, then why should we think that they will abide by any other laws of our land or society? In fact, how often are crime rates higher in communities with high percentages of illegals? Often times we hear stories of overcrowding and Multiple families residing in small dwellings designed for far fewer occupants. These situations create many problems not excluding unsanitary, or unhealthy situations.

We are constantly told that our social system is over burdened and can not support the many who are waiting to take advantage of the social services. In many cases, illegals enter the system in large numbers and begin receiving benefits without even being US citizens. There are even attempts to give illegals drivers licenses and voting rights.

If we can not or will not enforce some of the most basic laws and tenets of this nation, then what is the point in having them to begin with? It certainly appears that our melting pot is in serious meltdown and getting worse with each passing day.

God's Love

In My Humble Opinion

As a younger man thoughts of mortality were seldom considered. Strength, health, and life were pretty much taken for granted. Selfish pursuits were of primary concern and little else mattered. There was never any doubt as to God's existence or love but like everything else even that was taken for granted. As time has passed and youth has slipped away priorities have changed.

Thought provoking questions now weigh heavily and warrant serious thought and consideration. For example, if you were to die today, where would you spend eternity? Not too long ago that would not have been something that would have been pondered but now has utmost importance. Something rather profound comes to mind when consider the previous question and that is the fact that no matter how long you live, you will be dead a whole lot longer.

God loved us so much that he gave his only begotten son. Because of this insurmountable act of love we have been given an opportunity to have eternal life. All that is asked is that we accept Jesus into our hearts and trust that he died and rose from the grave for our sins. A simple matter of faith which can guarantee eternal life, what a deal.

We can not begin to comprehend how much God loves us. We see evidence of God's love all around and have only to look at a newborn child, smell a flower, pet a puppy, listen to a song, or smell your favorite food cooking. Examples of God's love abound and surround us at all times. Is it asking too much that we simply love God back a little? The wonderful story of God's love and gift of His son, Jesus to us is one which should be shared with every one on earth.

If you have questions or comments, please feel free to contact me. God's love is the greatest love of all and is free for the taking.

Arab Allies

In My Humble Opinion

Forgive my skepticism but there are just too many unanswered questions with regard to having the UAE in control of some of the key US ports. While there is no doubt that there are many Arabs who absolutely love US money, I truly wonder how far the affection really goes beyond US dollars filling Arab coffers? Ok, so economically speaking, the UAE is our ally, at least for now. If forced to choose between other Arab nations or the US, what would the outcome be? Other than money, what ties do we really have with any Arab nation?

From a cultural standpoint, most Arab nations being predominantly Muslim have little affection for any Western country and in fact consider the US to be the "Great Satan". Learning that 40% of British Muslims would prefer a Sharia based system of law which is one based on the Koran is certainly anything but comforting. Do Muslims immigrate to area in Europe to meld into the culture, society, and lifestyles of their adoptive homes? Judging from recent rioting in Paris lasting several weeks the answer would be a resounding, NO! The fires of fanaticism are eagerly fanned by Mullahs who are more than happy to exploit any situation they can to create emotional whirlpools capable of enveloping large groups of impressionable Muslims, especially those living in depressed conditions. Lest we forget, as per the definition as detailed in the Koran, anyone who is not a Muslim is an infidel. Infidels can convert to Islam, be subjugated to a lower class status paying taxes to their Muslim lords, or simply be killed. There are no other options.

While the management team of the UAE who would in fact oversee the daily operation of US ports under their control may in fact profess allegiance to the US, where does that loyalty end? One analogy of having the UAE in control of US ports is like being a bridge between the Arab world and the US. The question then becomes, what would pass over the bridge between the two worlds? Wouldn't this create a definite possibility for terrorist infiltration of the major US cities where these ports or located? Could this bridge be a conduit for terrorist activity and the creation of terrorist cells inside the US? How would we determine who is or is not going to engage in terroism or terroist activity? It is not like they are going to boldly profess their intentions upon entering our ports.

From a security standpoint this could be an absolute nightmare scenario. We have only to look to our US/Mexico borders or our US/Canada borders to see the blatant failures with regard to security. How successful has the US been in combating or even dealing with the flow of illegals entering the US from either border? My intention is not to denigrate or berate our wonderful men and women who are vigilant and diligent in their efforts and do their very best on a daily basis to stop as much as they can. Officers of the US Border Patrol are simply overwhelmed and understaffed, and undersupplied to contend with the flow of illegals every single day. This is not simply a few hungry immigrants in search of opportunity but is sometimes very organized, well supported, and even high tech operations. Terrorists are not stupid either and are quite aware or the problems with controlling our borders.

The mainstream media has done a wonderful job illustrating our vulnerabilities and weaknesses and our enemies have paid close attention. When forces were landing in Iraq, the mainstream media was there reporting, as it happened with great enthusiasm. The mainstream media, cameras rolling, are typically not far from any tragedy resulting from a breakdown in US security which has been exploited by our enemies. It is not hard to see that the coverage and time given to covering the war in Iraq has been anything but favorable to the US in any way. Do we see schools being opened, electricity operations, or water being restored to areas suffering nearly unbearable conditions? No, obviously we see only that which can be spun to present the worst and most negative portrayal all for purposes of damaging the current administration for political purposes. The same is true with the uncontrollable influx of illegals into our country every day.

What affect will any of this have on our nation? That answer to this question is quite simply, 9/11 revisited. Just because there have been no further incidents or attacks on US soil for awhile does not mean that it is over and we can all sleep safely in our beds with delusions of safety because we are more alert now. Yes, many positive and necessary changes have taken place since the attacks but are we safe now? Are we safe enough to turn over the management of some of our key ports to anyone who could possibly either knowingly or unknowingly act as a conduit for terroists? These are just some of the issues which should be given serious consideration. How safe would we be when the enemy is in our front yards?

Port Management

In My Humble Opinion

Ok, this is really a bad episode of the Twilight Zone and we are going to wake up soon, right? Giving control of 6 of our stategic Ports to an organization which has questionable loyalty at best is well, sort of like putting the Taliban in charge or our Homeland security isn't it? Good grief, what are they thinking here trying to pull something like this?

Am I mistaken or are we not seeing riots including building destruction and even attacks on US Embassies in multiple Arab countries right now? The Muslim community considers us the "Great Satan" and now 40% of British Muslims want to enact Sharia law. Sharia law is that which is based on the Koran which means beating women is just fine as is stoning, and other well, harsh practices. The UAE (United Arab Emirits) seem to be friendly towards us right now so it should be just fine, right?

Why stop there, let's just go ahead and turn over our sovereignty to the UN while we are at it? Let me see if I have this straight, half of our Supreme Court Justices are looking to foreign law to help base their decisions affecting us on, activist judges are writing law from the bench, and now we want to turn over control of six major US ports to a group which even recognizes the Taliban, our enemy? What's wrong with this picture.

Folks, we are in serious trouble here and now is not the time to be silent, lazy, or timid. Now would be the time to participate in the process and become educated on the issues which will certainly affect all of us. Should we sit idly by and allow such radical agendas to become acceptable?

Muslim Riots

In My Humble Opinion:

First we saw riots in the suburbs of Paris where disenfranchised Muslim youth set fires to cars and battled the police. For two weeks the youth went on a rampage of destruction and arson which threstened so spread. Now, because of a cartoon we have witnessed rioting spanning several countries in Europe with no end in sight. Outrage over cartoons portraying the prophet Mohammed in a somewhat negative manner? If Christians reacted to just a fraction of intolerance that we are met with on an increasing basis from the secular humanists in the US, can you imagine what would be happening?

Muslim apologists tell us that Islam is an enlightened religion with essentially the same goals as Christianity. Really? Somehow I find that very difficult to believe and expert studies of the Koran do not bear that theory to be true. From the very beginning of Islam it has been spread by force and by sword. But let's forget about the fact that non Muslims or infidels are given three wonderful options consisting of converting to Islam, being killed, or being subjugated to nearly slave status paying taxes to your Muslim lords. Yep, that's it, that is the only option and if Muslims have their choice, their preference is option number two or killing all infidels.

Ok, so Muslim apologists tell us that despite a nearly unceasing onslaught of terrorist attacks spanning the globe in non Muslim areas, that the terrorists are a small faction of the Muslim population and that the terrorists are a minority in the Muslim world. Why aren't the Muslim moderates standing up in force to counter the negative image of Muslims being created by the daily bombings, burning, and beheading of all of these loving and tolerant Muslims? I seem to have missed all reference to beheading non believers, burning everything in sight, and suicide bombings when I read the Bible.

Islam is reported as one of the fastest growing religions in the world. Muslims have flooded into Europe, Asia, and even the US for decades now. How can that be? If they are born and raised right along side the other citizens and given the same opportunities of everyone else then what could possibly compel them to behave that way? Yes I know that there are no lack of scholarly explanations with regard to socio economic impetus which affect the overall mindset and blah, blah, blah. The bottom line is this, these people, under the banner of Islam are ready, willing, and eager to burn, bomb, and kill with as little provocation as some cartoons.

Folks, the warning bells and whistles should be blaring at this point. Now we have a militant Muslim leading a major Arab country and thumbing their nose at the UN over restarting their nuclear program? Oh my, does anyone believe for a second that the collective we is going to stand by and let Iran reach nuclear bomb capability? I really don't think so and the question then becomes, what will the repercussions be to strikes at Iran? Do the crusades come to mind?

But then, don't take my word for it. If you are in doubt, pick up a copy of the Koran and you can spend all the time you want reading about the love and peaceful teachings of the prophet Mohammed as given him by Allah. And you can even be rewarded with 70 virgins in paradise and untold riches just for strapping on a bomb belt and blowing up as many infidels as possible. Hmmm, somehow I seem to be missing all of the love and tolerance as taught by the Koran here. It seems like we were just treated to pictures and videos of cars burning and youth in the streets of paris for over two weeks. Now, we see embassies burning and riots throughout cities in Europe. Iranians threaten full scale uranium enrichment in open defiance of the UN and world at large. I thought Islam was such a loving and peaceful religion so how can this possibly be happening and on such a large scale? And for what you might ask, what terrible event could possibly trigger such alarming reaction throughout the Muslim world? Why the publishing of cartoons depicting Mohammed in charicature of course.

But this is only the most fanatical and extremists Muslim factions you might hear but no amount of revisionism will white wash over this latest example of the hatred that permeates to the very core of Islam for all infidels no matter where they live. Truth be known, Muslims are taught to lie, cheat, steal, and kill as a way of life. The Koran is frought with justification for anything and everything that could and is done to anyone who is a non Muslim. Don't take my word for it, read the Koran for yourself and see if this is not the case.

And what about women's rights in Muslim communities? Where is the outrage at the way women are treated in the Muslim world? Women are considered little more than slaves whose only purpose is to please men. Girls as young as 9 years of age can be taken as brides and divorce consists of little more than a husband announcing three times that he divorces her at any time.

Where is the love in a religion that would strap explosives on young men and women and send them in to blow up themselves and as many others as possible? Revisionist historians might try to aplogize or gloss over history and references to the crusades or conflicts between muslims and christians but the truth of the matter remains that Muslims have always sought to spread their religion by force and by the sword. Apparently, that has not ever changed as evidenced by current events and one has only to think back to the events of September 11th right here in the US to see the love and warmth of Islam demonstrated on a large scale.

I defy anyone to justify the actions of any Muslim anywhere who wantonly and willingly commits such horrendous atrocities as those witnessed in any of the terrorist incidencts that have and continue to occur throughout the world today. Who is to blame for all of the violence and what perpetuates it? I think one has only to look to the Koran for the answers to these questions for it is the very teaching of Mohammed that justifies and exalts such activity. The promise of virgins and riches in heaven must be powerfully tempting for such martyrdom and eagerness to die. If you are seeking mercy and compassion, don't look to the Koran to find it, you will be hard pressed to do so.

In my humble opinion, we should all be aware that our Muslim brothers and sisters might not have our best interest at heart and may in fact wish us harm but then again don't take my word for it, just turn on the news and see for yourself.

Politics of Destruction

In My Humble Opinion :

To say that we live in an environment of attack and destroy with regard to those who think and believe differently is a gross understatement. The politics of attack and personal destruction is evident everywhere we look. A prime example of the politics of personal destruction was evidenced in the Alito hearings where partisan politics trumped all else. Judge Alito could have possessed the character of an insane serial killer but if his political views had been in line with those of the liberal left then he would have been praised as the greatest thing to come along.

The system and process has been so corrupted by the entrenched power brokers and mainstream media attack dogs that little else can be done other than to promote whichever agenda is currently paying the best at any given moment. Forgive my cynicism but let us not be misguided or naive enough to think that the most prevalent agendas in this country are not driven and influenced by money. Those who are well financed and well organized wield the greatest influence among our elected officials and their agenda is given center stage by the eager pundits in the mainstream media.

The process itself has become a deterrent and keeps good people from wanting to even enter their names for consideration. Who can blame them? Who in their right mind is going to want partisan attack dogs snooping into their innermost private lives and looking for anything that can be spun, distorted, and used against them for political gain? Club affiliations, nannies who have been hired, or even how they dress their children has become fair game in today's political environment. Do the democrats really oppose Alito because of his character, reputation, or based on his 15 year tenure on the bench? If so, then they are more comtemptable and more despicable than I thought as Judge Samuel Alito exemplifies honor, dignity, and character. The opposition to confirming Judge Alito is simply based on partisan differences and the fear that Justice Alito will tip the balance of power back towards a more conservative side.

Could a more conservative supreme court mean that judicial activism might be reined in more? I pray that this is exactly what happens. Unelected judges are not supposed to legislate from the bench and the fact that they have been allowed to do so goes against the very core of our form of government. Activist courts have done more to further the liberal and dangerous agenda as witnessed by such landmarks as Rov v Wade, the gay agenda, the assault on the institution of marriage, and even christianity itself. These ideologies fail miserable when presented to the public at large and can not win when put to a vote at state levels leaving the only recourse to attempt to find judges who are like minded and will rule in favor of their political leanings and interests instead of what should be considered for society at large and not just the most vocal minorities.

Enough is enough, civility and decorum must be restored or I fear we are headed towards certain crisis and upheaval. One has only to think back to history for examples of what happens when radical factions become overly empowered or emboldened and power is usurped for personal gain. What happened to the Roman Empire, look what happened in Nazi Germany, or even the Soviet Union. If that isn't good enough to stimulate your thought processes then read George Orwell's, "Animal Farm" for a dose of stark reality and thought provoking stimuli.

For now, we should pray fervently for a revival in our country to return to the christian principles that our great nation was founded upon. Even the best revisionist can not hide the fact that our founding fathers were a deeply religious group of men who possessed great wisdom and foresight as evidenced by the documents which were drafted and placed in effect as our country came into being. How have we done as a country or even a society since we removed prayer from our schools? How has promoting the homosexual agenda benefitted us? How has the assualt on marriage helped us and what has that done to benefit us? We should spend more time on our knees seeking answers and an honest reexamination of our core belief system for the answers to those and many other questions.

God bless you all.

Culture War

Ok so maybe the term culture war is a bit strong, or is it? Is that not exactly what is happening today as opposing ideologies are clashing in all areas of our society? The events which transpired recently with regard to Christmas clearly illustrate how divisive and contentious our society has become. A pervasive intolerance of Christianity seems to be rampant among the vocal minority of secular humanists who control the majority of the mainstream media.

Removing the Pledge Of Allegiance and now, the term "In God We Trust" from our money has become the type of lunacy that is tying up our court system. Political correctness seems to have become the rule of the day instead of just some wacky idea that is laughed at and dismissed summarily. Now, no matter how extreme or nutty something is there are those in the outer fringes who are ready to champion these causes and are given no lack of coverage by their allies in the mainstream media. Spin, over heated rhetoric, and even outright lies and deceptions are presented as being factual, serious journalism.

Not so long ago the ground swell of outrage over something as ridiculous as removing the Pledge Of Allegiance from our public school system to simply appease an overly vocal minority would not have been tolerated. Unfortunately in today's society the logic seems to be to pander to the desires of a few and punish the silent majority. Complacency and apathy by the majority of us in this country who identify ourselves as Christians has exacerbated the problem and emboldened and empowered the secular humanists who wish to destroy our very way of life as we have known it since the beginning of this country. Isn't it time to take a stand and say enough?

In my opinion, we are literally on the precipice of an impending culture war and are fighting for our very survival. An activist judiciary is steadily usurping power from our representative form of government and our Constitution is being shredded and eviscerated. Our rights are disappearing at an alarming right as we sit idly by and watch it happening. Some of our Supreme Court Justices even look to foreign law for answers to domestic problems which is absolutely unacceptable by any standard. I thought we lived in the United States of America, not some socialist conglomeration or New World Order. Enough is enough and the time has come to stand up for our beliefs so we don't have to lie down for the beliefs of others. We must make our voices heard and take action now, while we still can.

New Year

Now here is a holiday that just about any secular, progressive, humanist can love. Even the ACLU can take a break from filing lawsuits to remove any slight hint of Christianity from the public venue. So, with out worrying about offending any of those who are well, politically correct, Happy New Year!

2005 was quite eventful and interesting to say the least so here's hoping that 2006 is full of God's blessings for each and every one of you. It is my heartfelt desire that everyone reading this blog will have nothing short of a wonderful year full of blessings in every regard. My prayers are that God will watch over us all and keep us safe from natural disasters and anything harmful. Here on the Gulf Coast we have certainly had our share of natural disasters with hurricanes in 2005. One has only to look back at the horror and devastation of Katrina in New Orleans to understand that clearly. Let's pray and hope that God will keep us from facing such disasters in 2006.

My hope is that we as a nation will rediscover our Chrisitan roots and get back to our basics of prayer and worship. We can no longer cower to the abuses of those who would deny us our fundamental right to worship our Lord as we choose too. I pray for a massive revival of spirituality in America on a massive scale. After all, our country was founded by deeply religious men who left England to escape the tyrany of an established state religion.

Those of us in the silent majority of mainstream Christians have been forced to stand by and watch as fanatic, overly vocal minorities have attempted to force their agendas on us with the assistance of the liberal left who control the mainstream media. This has resulted in the Left feeling emboldened to attempt to remove any and all signs, symbols, and reference to religion from the public view. This was especially true during the Christmas season where many retailers caved to the threat of pressure from those on the left who threatened retaliation through their cronies in the ACLU and other fanatic attack dogs. Thankfully because of the outrage and efforts of such groups as AFA (American Family Association) and massive petition campaigns, Christians were able to make their voices heard and retailers have promised to return to referencing Christmas and not just generic greetings such as Happy Holidays, etc.

In my opinion now is the time to continue to put pressure on the Left and those of their ilk and keep the momentum going. Why should Christians be tolerant of those who are anything but tolerant and silently accept anything and everything that is attempted by the Left? Why should Christians allow secular humanists to dictate when, how, and where we can celebrate the birth of our Lord? I say we can no longer sit by silently and tolerate such insanity. Now is the time to stand up, be counted, and make our voices heard in a loud and clear manner from coast to coast. If secular humanists do not want to celebrate Christmas, don't want to hear Christmas carols, and are offended by Christmas then ignore it! Go start your own holiday and leave ours alone! If Christmas bothers you that much then leave, go to a Muslim country where you don't have to worry about celebrating Christmas.

Let us band together and make our voices heard in 2006. We simply can not tolerate any more of the radical agenda of the secular Left. And here is a little secret that they do not want you to know, you don't have to tolerate their agendas. If we in the silent majority will simply exercise our right of free speech we can make our voices heard. It is all a matter of taking action.

God bless you all and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Now hear is a holiday that just about any secular, progressive, humanist can love. Anti-Christmas forces are busy in schools where children will take Winter breaks instead of traditional Christmas Holiday breaks, children are being taught about "Friendship Trees" instead of traditional Christmas Trees. Some government agencies and even private sector businesses are directing employees to use politically correct greetings like "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas. One has to look ever harder to view Nativity scenes and displays although other faiths are readily displaying their symbols in the public arena.

Did I miss something or isn't Jesus Christ and the fact that He was born on December 25th the whole reason for Christmas to begin with? Christmas is the celebration of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ and there is no other reason at all. Sure, who doesn't want to get presents, or have fabulous meals and wonderful deserts, and seeing family is always great at Christmas but these are simply perks of the season and not the reason for the season.

Frankly, I am horrified at the assault on Christmas and the attempts to wipe it from public view. How could this possibly be happening in a country where nearly 70 plus percent of Americans profess Christianity? If the extremely vocal, minority do not wish to celebrate Christmas, then don't celebrate it but do not tell me that I can not celebrate it or how to celebrate it. We hear so much about how we should be tolerant of other faiths and religions and yet we are met with the highest degree of intolerance from these very people for simply trying to observe what is easily the most important holiday of all to Christians.

Isn't it time that we stand up for ourselves and quit allowing these hypocritical, knee jerk, radicals to dictate how and when we can celebrate the birth of our Lord? The answer should be a resounding yes. The answer is to become knowledgeable about what is and what is not allowed by our constitution and standing up for those rights whereever they are being abused. There is strength in numbers so it is definitely time for like minded Christians to unite behind saving one of our most revered holidays. Take time to educate yourself about what you can do to help and find others who will join you in saving Christmas as we have known it all of our lives.

Have a Merry Christmas and May God Bless You and Yours!

Right Under Our Noses

In My Humble Opinion

Largely unnoticed, quietly spreading like an undiscovered cancer, all out assaults on just about everything that this great country was founded on are taking place. In many cases these assaults go right under the radar screen of public scrutiny and never make it to the mainstream media. Much of what is largely taken for granted is in serious jeopardy of becoming obsolete and disappearing forever unless something is done almost immediately.

What kind of assaults could I possibly be talking about that pose such a serious threat to things like freedom, liberty or even sovereignty you might ask? A prime example is a dangerous trend taking place in the highest court in the land which has been going on for some time now. The trend of viewing the Constitution as a "living, evolving" entity which is subject to change at the whim of the court has and continues to undermine the very freedoms and liberties that our Founding fathers intended when they wrote the document over two hundred years ago. Another is the trend of some justices looking to laws and precedents outside of the US for help in making decisions which affect all Americans.

But we are powerless to do anything to change these trends you might say, there is nothing that we can do. Not true, the solution is to demand that our elected representatives in Congress stand up and demand that courts return to a more constructionist approach and stop legislating from the bench. Federal courts can not be allowed to continue to thumb their noses at the will of the people and the legislaive branch of government. Apathy and complacency can no longer be tolerated and anyone who is concerned about the trends that are taking place right under our noses must begin by becoming educated about what is taking place, and then start contacting their elected representatives to take immediate action to curtail continued judicial activism. The Legislative branch of government possesses the power to stop judicial activism with the power of impeachment but lacks the will to exercise this measure.

Checks and balances as established in the Constitution of the United States have gone largely ignored for far too long and judicial activism has become an accepted abuse of power to accomplish the goals of extremists who are incapable of being able to get such legislature passed through Congress as it would continue to fail miserably as it goes against the will of the people. A prime example of this is the recent marriage amendment that was overwhelmingly passed by the California voters only to be overturned by the state legislature but later vetoed by governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. This blatant disregard for the people's voice is a dangerous trend that can not be ignored. We the people will cease to be heard if we continue to allow our voice to be silenced in such unconstituional abuses as that which was witnessed in California. We can no longer continue to bury our heads in the sand and pretend that abuses like this just don't affect us, they do! If we do not act and demand that the abuses stop then we could face the tyrannical oppression of unelected, unaccountable, extremist who seek to promote their radical agendas above the will and good of the citizens of this country.

Our country is in desperate need of fervent and unceasing prayer. We are in desperate need of strong, moral leadership and representation. The continued usurping of power can not be tolerated and must stop immediately. This nation must return to the principles and foundations that the Founders intended. Learn about what is taking place and take action to correct it. The risks are too great and the dangers are too dire not to do so. Take action now to preserve our way of life.

When is the Left, Right?

In My Humble Opinion:

When is today's, American left correct or right about anything? Much like leftist ideologies akin to socialism and communism which have failed throughout history whenever and whereever they have been tried, the ideas of the left have been proven wrong. Considering the historical and current failings of leftist ideas and philosophies, when is the left ever right about anything?

Is the Welfare state of today the resounding success that the left would like to tout for all to see? How about the generations of children educated in the public school system who are not only devoid of a moral compass but incapable in many cases of reading the diplomas that are given to them simply to get them out of the system? Perhaps it is the murder of innocents in the womb that the left is most proud of with abortion on demand being the rule of the land? How about one of the latest pet projects, the destruction of Christianity and any reference to faith?

Most puzzling is how the left is still able to wield such power and mandate the degree and level of control that is demonstrated even now. How can such a minority with extremist and radical ideologies continue to impact the rules under which the majority are forced to live? More accurately, why is the majority made to live under the rule of the whacky minority and where did the minority get such power?

If a secular society and out of touch and out of control government along with an activist judiciary are taking this country on a path that is diametrically opposed to the intent of the founding fathers, and the majority is made to suffer to accomodate an extremist, fringe minority which is exactly what is happening today, then there are dire problems that must be addressed immediately. Can this country really risk living in a Utopian society as decided by the fringe left, if the left is allowed to continue engineering the society that is determined to be best for the rest of us? The thought chills to the heart and sends cold shudders up the spine. At the very least, these and many other questions deserve some serious thought.

The Big Power Grab

In My Humble Opinion :

The Big Power Grab

The big power grab could be defined as the usurping of power away from the Legislative branch of the United States government by a group of elitist, activist judges. The power grab is nothing new and has been taking place for many years. The affects of the big power grab however resonate throughout society and impact the lives of nearly all Americans. The big power grab, very much like a runaway freight train, appears to be increasing in speed and will have an ever increasing affect on society upon impact.

Understanding that there are three separate branches of the United States government illustrates why a power grab by any of the three, should never be tolerated and is in fact an unconstitutional act. The intent for the judicial branch of government was and is to simply interpret the laws written by the legislative branch. There was never any intent for the judicial branch to legislate or dictate law from the bench as is so blatantly illustrated by courts such as the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in California.

The big power grab has been taking place for many years but seems to have become more prevalent and pervasive as society has tolerated and allowed the practice to become accepted. Not to be specific with regard to exactly when the practice of the big power grab began but suffice it to say that it has been taking place for several decades now.

The affects of the big power grab are evident throughout society. Some of the more notable examples would be the removal of prayer from the public school system in the early nineteen sixties, the Roe V. Wade decision in the early nineteen seventies making abortion legal, and the more recent Kelo decision with regard to seizure of publicly owned property.

Like the example of the runaway freight train or even the incredible destruction of hurricane Katrina, the big power grab will have the power to impact nearly if not every single American. Removing prayer and any reference to religion or the Bible took away the ability to impart a moral foundation to students, the Roe V. Wade decision legalized the murder of unborn innocents, and the Kelo decision will authorize the seizure of privately owned property to be turned over for public use. These are but a few of the many examples of what an out of control judiciary can impose on the population of this country. Is there an end in sight? Not likely at this point.

Continuing down the path of tolerance towards an out of control judiciary will simply embolden and allow even more radical changes to be forced on society. One clear example is the onslaught against the institution of marriage between one man and one woman. If the destruction of marriage which has held for centuries as being between one man and one woman as defined by the Word of God, then marriage could be defined by nearly anything and everything and will be determined by the whim of the court. The most frightening aspects of such activism could result in marriages between adults and children, or multiple persons, or even humans and animals with no end to the possibilities.

Solutions must be found and found quickly to halt the big power grab immediately. The tyranny of judicial activism can not be tolerated by a free society. Fallacious arguments such as the Constitution of the United States is a living, evolving document subject to interpretation by the standards of today can not be allowed to take hold and must be dismissed as ridiculous and baseless. The idea of the evolution of a living Constitution will lead to the ultimate destruction of the very liberties for which the Constitution was originally written to insure to each citizen. Without the liberties as defined, outlined, and expressly given to each citizen of this country, America will cease to be a nation for the people, and of the people and will become a nation in which freedom will no longer remain.

More to come ….

Faith

In My Humble Opinion -

As a Baby Boomer I recall the days when our school day began with not only prayer but also the Pledge Of Allegiance to the flag. My classroom had the Ten Commandments on display and I spent a great deal of time reading and digesting the content which also prompted me to question my parents about what the Commandments meant. Those of different beliefs were told that they could observe moments of silent meditation and were in no way forced to participate in anything that they were not comfortable with. My point is simply this, activities such as described above influenced me and helped to form the basis upon which my personality and character were built.

Equally as important to starting our school day off with prayer and our exercise in basic patriotism, we were taught both sides of the issue which is now being referred to as "intelligent design" or creation versus evolution. Being given both sides of the issue allowed us to make intelligent choices for ourselves based on our belief system, not being indoctrinated to believe one way or another.

Faith is also an issue of personal choice. Removing the ability for our children to pray at school and having false ideas and erroneous theories rammed down the throats of our children who unless properly prepared at home have no way of differentiating between what is fact and fallacy has produced a generation of people with extremely flawed belief systems. Devoid of faith to guilde their behaviors, what are they left with, anarchy? Is it any wonder that we are witness to acts of immorality such as looting, killing, raping, and all of the other horrors we have witnessed during the tragedy of hurricane Katrina?

Without a solid moral foundation to build on, what is it which will fill the void as our children grow and mature? Whose agenda will they be indoctrinated with in the public school systems or will they be left to fend for themselves and form their character or lack thereof based on what they are force fed in the mainstream media or in their personal peer groups? As our country becomes an even larger cultural melting pot and droves of diverse cultures continue to flood our society, whose religious view points or lack thereof will be impacting our children's impressionable minds?

As a child I grew up in a home with little to no religious guidance other than that which I experienced in school. I am thankful for teachers who were not afraid to share their beliefs in the Bible which only helped to spark my curiosity to learn more. If we are not taught to develop faith in the Lord and the Word of God, then what is the alternative? Without a Christian foundation to build upon as our belief system develops which will determine our personality and character, what will we build upon?

We are witness to what seems to be an all out assault on anything to do with faith and Christianity all the while we see every accomodation being made for those of differing view points such as Islam, Buddhism, and even Paganism. A concerted effort is mounted every December to remove any and all refernces to Christianity in the public venue and is now even overflowing into the public school system in many areas in ridiculous examples of knee jerk extremism and the fear of offending some incredibly small segment or faction who may not share in Christian beliefs and view points. So, the norm is now to punish the majority to accomodate the nearly non existent minority. This is clearly demonstrated in the assault on our second ammendment right to own and bear firearms. With upwards of 10,000 plus statutes, laws, and policies on the books regarding firearms we are still entreated to the hysterical rantings of the anti gun lobby at any and every opportunity. Ok, here is a novel thought, how about we punish the criminals who misuse firearms and not punish the vast majority of law abiding gun owners in this country? Wow, what an epiphany, punish the criminals and not everyone else! Ok, take that a step further, those who are not Christian are not going to be forced in any way to believe differently so why should the majority of us be force to accept ideas, view points and theologies that we do not agree with only to satisfy the extremists, elitists, and fanatics who are only concerned with promoting their personal agendas and sense of what is fair and equitable for everyone.

Here is an amazing little known factoid, this country was established to begin with to escape religious and fanatic intolerance. Yep, our forefathers came here so that they were not made to believe what the Church Of England demanded that everyone believe. The signers of the Constitution and Declaration Of Independence were deeply religious men who recognized the absolute need to be guided by beliefs in our creator, Christian precepts, and the wisdom contained in the Bible. Unfortunately, all of those who do not want to be held to any type of moral absolutes as defined in the Bible are obviously going to espouse all of the social morays, attitudes, and opinions of the lunatic fringe on the far left. To see the fruits of what nearly 40 years plus of social experimentation, building a welare entitlement faction, and all other liberal utopian theories which have been implemented we only have to turn on the evening news, pick up a newspaper or magazine, or visit a college campus.

Here is a newsflash, regardless of age, income, or social status it is never to late to pick up God's Word and discover on your own the answers to any questions you might have so that you can choose for yourself. If you have questions about your salvation there are no lack of good, Christian, neighbors who will be more than happy to help you find answers to any questions that you might have. Yes, you can develop, strengthen, or even find your lost faith at any stage of life. The answers to any question that one can ever have can be answered by simply reading and learning about what Jesus Christ did for all of us and recorded in the Bible more than two thousand years ago. If nothing else, develop a faith in something, hopefully not a faith in the world, or man, but a faith in something greater than our ability to comprehend with our human capacity. Often times it is as easy and bending one's knees and simply talking to the Creator of all to find that you are always welcome in the open arms of the Lord.

God Bless You.

Facts - The Left's worst Nightmare

Warning!

The facts will come out-

Uh oh, what is going to happen when the facts actually come out and we see exactly what happened in the 72 hours prior to Katrina striking the New Orleans area and Gulf Coast?

We have certainly witnessed no lack of blame being focused at the federal government and failings of the current administration and even the president himself. How can that be? Isn't it the responsibility of the state and local government to address issues of evactuation and crisis management when facing a disaster of the magnitude of hurricane Katrina? What exactly did the mayor of New Orleans do in the 3 day period prior to Katrina's strike to address the problems that he is so eager to blame George Bush for failing to address? How about the governor, Kathleen Blanco? What is her responsibility in crisis situations of this magnitude?

George Bush is a wonderful example of leadership but I seriously doubt that even his super powers could have prevented, altered the course of Katrina, or stopped the levee break in a single bound. Seriously, how much of the garbage that is being blamed on him really even his responsibility to begin with? What about the evacuation plan that New Orleans had, how was it implemented and by whom? What about the phone calls that George Bush made to the governor and mayor prior to Katrina's strike imploring them to take immediate action, were they heeded?

After the rhetoric cools down and emotions subside and level heads begin to prevail devoid of posturing, finger pointing, and racial swipes, I believe we will continue to witness more of what makes us proud with regard to disaster response. As we are already witnessing, the fine people in this country and abroad are opening their wallets, their hearts, and even their homes to those who have become displaced, homeless, refugees. Instead of being white or black citizens, let us first be Americans, neighbors, and friends.

Solutions vs. Criticism

As I am sure you have all noticed by now, we are entreated to a non ending flood of criticism regarding the handling of the Katrina crisis along the US Gulf Coast. Ok, that seems fair enough but my question to all those who are parading in front of the tv cameras to condemn and malign our President and governmental agencies which are responding to the crisis is simply this, what would you have done or do that would be any different than what we are seeing now? It is incredibly easy to play armchair quarterback and espouse the wisdom of the sages to all who will listen when in fact most of the critics are as in the dark as the rest of us as to what should have, could have, been done and when.

Instead of criticism and disharmony would it not make a great deal more sense to unite and pull together to solve the crisis and continuing problems related to the devastation left in Katrina's wake? Instead of venom and vitriole, would it not be more productive for our pundits and politicians to exert their energy towards words of encouragement and unity? Instead of taking every opportunity to malign and condemn the actions that have been taken so far?

In my humble opinion, offering solutions to the problems instead of contributing to the problem by creating more ill will and disunity would simply be much more productive.

A Time For Prayer

While watching the hurricane Katrina aftermath stories on the weather channel and national news stations I am reminded of how important it is during times of tremendous devastation and disastor to simply stop and pray for all of those who were affected and impacted by the unpredictable fury of storms the magnitude of hurricane Katrina. As those of us who recieved minimal to no affects whatsoever reflect on how we might be of assitance to the thousands upon thousands of those who are in dire crisis due to the damage caused by Katrina first and foremost should be giving thanks to the Lord for all of those who escaped death with their lives. As we begin the slow and painful process of search and rescue, feeding and housing, and even relocating survivors of Katrina there will be ample opportunity to provide aid in the form of financial donations to organizations such as the Red Cross and others actively involved in providing aid to hurricane victims. We should not overlook the need to donate blood which will be equally as important as many blood donation centers in the affected areas are not able to operate due to loss of power, flooding, and other aftermath related complications. While we should certainly strive to meet the tremendous physical needs of the survivors we can not overlook the equally important spiritual needs by praying for all of those in the impacted areas all along the Gulf Coast of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. The power of prayer can never be underestimated and should be encouraged by anyone and everyone who is able to do so. Pray fervently, frequently, and immediately for all of those who were blessed enough to have survived the horror and life altering trauma of Katrina.

God Bless,

Gas Prices

Ok, I am reading headlines like a penny a day and 40% over this time last year all relating to the ever increasing price of a gallon of precious gasoline. Talk about sticker shock, with the price edging ever closer to the $3 per gallon price I, for one am experiencing budget shock on a grand scale. Now instead of thoughtlessly jumping in the car to pop down to the local video store or to drive down to the local hang out to see which friends are out and about I find myself taking pause and planning every outing much more carefully taking into consideration the distance, time involved, and approximating the gasoline usage. So exactly who is getting fat, dumb, and happy with all the excess profits while those of us in fly over country are fearing the next installment of price hikes which are invariably going to come down the pike and be reflected at the pumps? Who is the villain in this inflated, burdeoning, bloated scheme to bankrupt the little guy at the gas pumps? We are treated to all manner of theory and thesis ranging from supply and demand to increasing price in production and even foreign suppliers intentionally driving up prices to punish the evil infidels in the West. So maybe it isn't some insidious plot designed to disrupt the economy of those of us in the US, so what exactly is the problem here and why are we seeing nearly $3 per gallon gas prices at the pumps and where is it going to end? Frankly, it is scaring me to death and my concern is not just from a financial standpoint. What exactly is going to save us from the dependence on fossil fuels and provide us with a nice, clean, alternative? Talk about being time for a white knight to ride in and save us, the time is definitely now.

Offending those who ...

You know, in my humble opinion, it is just about impossible to not offend someone in today's politically correct society. No matter what you do or how hard you try, it seems that someone is going to take offense to just about anything and literally everything that those who differ from them do. For example, gays are going to be offended by non gays simply because they are not gay. Non Christians are going to be offended by anything having to do with religion or Christianity simply because of their beliefs. Proof of this ridiculous intolerance is evident everywhere and permeates all areas of our society today. Religious symbols can not be displayed in certain places, public schools are working overtime to change the name of seasons to reflect intolerance such as changing Christmas break to Winter break, and even some businesses are forcing emplyees to stop wishing Merry Christmas by changing to happy holidays or other less offensive greetings. For crying out loud, where does it stop? When is it going to end?
